It has been a busy Christmas this year, the house full of kids and grandkids. It is beginning to slow down but the house is a bit of a mess and there is left over food almost spilling out of the fridge. I guess I should not have to cook for this next week unless we get sick of left overs.
It has been a bit chaotic and the stillness of a quiet house will be welcome.
This afternoon, Rachelle’s bunch left for Saskatoon where Asen and Ronin were to board a plane for Vancouver. They just called and the flight was cancelled so are on their way back. That means another trip to Saskatoon tomorrow morning and then another to Saskatoon the following day to get Rachelle to the airport. I realize that some people commute to and from work for what is a 90 minute drive – but we don’t and all this driving is tiring and disruptive to the day at the very least. Oh well, life on the prairies.
I am trying to read a very thick text on the history of our denomination for my January class that starts in a week and a half. Have a short paper to write too. I am strangely unambitious. Maybe it is a surfeit of food and sweet treats but I seem to fall asleep in my chair as I read.
Sickness has been making the rounds around here. Over Christmas first Annette, then David then Kieran – then Kimia and Zaka. Today Ronin threw up. I’m hoping my headache is not something fluish. Most weird is that Leo has broken out in a bright red rash and has no clue what it is from.
Hoping Ronin is well by tomorrow when we drive down to Saskatoon. He and Rachelle fly away early on Tuesday. It is hard to believe that their three week visit is coming to an end.
This space will be a bit quiet over the next two days. We will be busy and I doubt that I will get too near a computer. Maybe I will pick up some wifi with my iPod but who knows. The emphasis will be on getting these two married.
Tomorrow we must get the boy down to Saskatoon with all the necessary paperwork, clothing and such. And we have to leave very early since we also have to get Ronin to Saskatoon for a Dr’s appt. This little guy,
has an appointment at 9:30 am to see the surgeon wh will revise the surgery done previously on his hand and that takes place on Monday.
It is going to be a busy weekend. And then we move full throttle into the next week with all of its merry activity.
I am feeling like a silent retreat is going to be needed to recover!
